This is smaller round of empties that the previous one, but it’s probably better liked one. I liked at least half of the finished products.
Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion (mini) – my go-to moisturizer. Reviewed here.
Soap & Glory Hand Food (full size) – nice hand cream. It adsorbs reasonably quickly, not as quickly as my beloved Aveeno or most of L’Occitane creams. It packs some serious moisturizing power. I wasn’t a fan of the smell though.
Paula’s Choice Clear Pore Normalizing Cleanser (full size) – I got this cleanser as a part of Paula’s Choice Regular Strength Acne Kit (exfoliant and treatment from this line reviewed here and here). There reason cleanser lasted so much longer than other parts of the kit is that I didn’t really like it. At first it seemed why to harsh and drying. So I stopped using it and switched to Liz Earl cream cleanser (reviewed here). I picked up Paula’s Choice Cleanser again after the winter was over. My skin tolerated it a lot better in warmer months. I feel that someone with oilier skin would have better experience with this cleanser.
Whish Shave Cream in Blubbery (deluxe sample) – Shaving creams are one category where I don’t see much of a difference between products. I do like creams better than shaving foam/gels, as the former is not drying, but every shaving cream I’ve used seems to be exactly identical to others, at least in terms of performance. The only difference I found is the smell. And in terms of smell this one is a bit odd. Out of the tube it does smell like blueberry, but as soon as it hits my skin the smell morphs into something sour and unpleasant. Thankfully, it doesn’t linger.
Paula’s Choice Clinical 1% Retinol Treatment (mini) – reviewed here.
Paula’s Choice RESIST Ultra Light Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum (foil) – there is not much that can be said about a foil sample. I got three uses out of this foil (by transferring it into sealable container). There are two things I discovered about this serum – it adsorbs really well and it doesn’t seem to irritate my skin. With that I ordered a full size version. We’ll see how that goes.
Beauty Protector Shower Gel (deluxe sample) – the only remarkable thing about this cleanser is the smell. I love the way all Beauty Protector stuff smells. If their line included perfume I would be all over it. Other than that it’s your average shower gel.
Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Co-Wash, Conditioner and Styling Milk (full size) – decent products for curly hair. All there were reviewed here.
CoTZ Face Natural Skin Tone SPF 40 (full size) – my favorite tinted sunscreen. It has unusual texture (very silicon-y, reminds me of the original Smashbox primer), so it may not be for everyone, but I really like it. This was my second tube and I already ordered a replacement. Reviewed here.
CoTZ Sensitive SPF 40 Broad Spectrum sunscreen (sample) – I picked it as one of my five samples for Build Your Own Birchbox at Birchbox Soho. Since I like the tinted version so much I had high hopes for this one, but I was disappointed. It feels very oily and heavy on my skin, which can be expected given that it contains 20% of Zinc Oxide. However, in addition to that it feels sticky, and that’s a big NO for me. I touch my face more often then I care to admit, and stickiness just make me want to wash my face. Dusting some powder on top does alleviate the issue (at least to some extent), but I probably won’t bother getting a full size of this.
