This was another one of Birchbox finds. I received it in August in my EveyGirl box. I’m a bit wary of physical exfoliation and of “organic” skin care for a number of reasons. To my surprise, I really liked this scrub. It uses sea kelp particles as exfoliant. They or green clay are probably responsible for dark green color of the product. They feel gentle enough to be used on my face and neck, yet effective. I didn’t notice a dramatic difference, but this doesn’t mean this product is not effective. I’m already using daily chemical exfoliant with salicylic acid, so there probably wasn’t much left to exfoliate. I used is about twice a week (usually while deep conditioning my hair). My skin felt really refreshed afterwards, and when I applied my moisturizer it sank into my skin faster than usual. Another thing I like about this scrub is it’s herbal scent. The smell turned a bit soap-y, as I rubbed the product into my face, but not unpleasant.
It is worth noting that I find marketing tactics of Acure Organics a bit deceptive. Plant steam cells are not going to make any difference to human skin, especially when applied topically. And don’t even get me started on use of term “organic”. However, this doesn’t make their product ineffective.
Bottom Line: decent scrub, well worth the price.
